Doctored Amit Shah Video On Reservation Goes Viral; Case Registered

New Delhi:  A doctored video of Union Home Minister Amit Shah going viral on social media platforms. The video, which has footage of the Home Minister talking about removing unconstitutional reservations for a religious group in Telangana, has been doctored to show that he was talking about Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.

The Special Cell of the Delhi Police, on Monday, registered a case in connection with the video.

BJP spokesperson Amit Malviya said the video has been altered to misrepresent Shah’s remarks. He alleged that the controversy surrounding the video escalated as various social media handles, including official accounts affiliated with the Congress, shared the doctored footage, alleging that it revealed the BJP’s “agenda to abolish SC/ST reservation quotas.”

After the BJP filed a case against the video, an FIR was registered under various sections of the IPC and relevant provisions of the IT Act. Sources in the Special Cell said that now arrests are likely to follow across the country. The complainants have also shared the details of the links and handles responsible for sharing the doctored video of the Home Minister, NDTV reported.

Meanwhile, Shah on Sunday reiterated that the BJP will neither remove reservations for SCs, STs and OBCs nor will it allow anyone to do so.
