Dolphin Rescued From River In Odisha’s Balasore
Balasore: A rare dolphin was caught by a group of fishermen in Jalaka river in Basta area of Odisha’s Balasore district on Thursday. They later released dolphin, weighing more than 25 kg, into the village pond at Nalabahar under Basta block.
The fishermen carried the six-foot-long dolphin on their shoulders to their village and then released the aquatic mammal into the village pond instead of the river.
After getting information, Forest department officials reached the village and rescued the dolphin from the pond. It was then taken by them for release into the sea.
Locals said that the dolphin was the first spotted playing in the Jalaka river near Nalabahar village. They initially thought it was a rare variety of fish before the aquatic mammal was identified by others.
