Bhubaneswar: Body of a personal aide to Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra was recovered under suspicious circumstances from his official residence in Bhubaneswar on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Shankarshan Nag (46), a resident of Belpahara area in Balangir district. He had been working as a domestic help at the residence of the minister for the past few months.
According to reports, Shankarshan went to a room in the residence this morning to perform his duties. Around 9 am, other staff members entered the room and found him lying unconscious on the floor. He was immediately rushed to Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar, where doctors declared him brought dead.
Capital Police Station officers later seized the body and sent it for postmortem to ascertain the exact cause of death. A case of unnatural death has been registered.
During initial inquiries, the minister’s family members were questioned and statements of some staff present at the residence were recorded. It is being suspected that Shankarshan might have died due to electric shock.
Police stated that a thorough probe is underway into how and when the death occurred, the circumstances leading to his unconscious state, and all related aspects of the incident.
