Mumbai: Actor Ranveer Singh’s exit from Farhan Akhtar’s ‘Don 3’ might cost him a whooping Rs 40 crore.
Excel Entertainment, led by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, is apparently seeking ₹40 crore in compensation from Ranveer as the production house suffered major losses during the film’s pre-production phase following the actor’s exit, the Variety India reported.
However, Ranveer has apparently denied the claim, stating that he was not responsible for the losses.
The actor claimed that he walked out of the project because he didn’t like the script.
“Ranveer claims he left the project because he wasn’t happy with the script. He kept asking for changes to be made and didn’t like what the final draft read. Excel, on the other hand, claims that they went ahead with pre-production only after Singh gave his go ahead,” a source was quoted as saying by the portal.
The report further stated that a two-hour meeting between Ranveer and the ‘Don 3’ production team last week also ended without any agreement.
Later, the Producers Guild of India (PGI) had to step in to mediate between the actor and the filmmakers.
