New Delhi: Indian shooting ace Manu Bhaker, a double medallist at last year’s Paris Olympics was bereaved as two of her close relatives were victims of a road accident on Sunday.
Manu’s grandmother and uncle died after their scooter was hit by a car, reported India Today.
The duo was riding a scooter on Mahendragarh Bypass Road when they were hit by a Brezza car around 9 am.
The collision was so severe that Manu’s grandmother and uncle died on the spot. The car driver fled the scene after the accident.
“We got information about an accident about a collision of a car and a scooty. Both persons on the scooty died. We could not find the driver of the car at the spot,” ASI Suresh Kumar told India Today.
One police reached the spot, they took the bodies into custody and sent them to the civil hospital for postmortem. An investigation into the accident has been launched.
Manu received the Khel Ratna Award from President Droupadi Murmu two days ago.
