Downward In Daily Caseload Continues In Odisha, TPR Dips To 0.07%; Puri Turns COVID-Free

Bhubaneswar: The COVID caseload in Odisha dropped to 32 on Tuesday with only 11 districts reporting new cases and that too in single digit. Among them, 6 are in the age group of 0-18 years.

This is the lowest single-day count since May 12, 2020, when the state had logged 23 new cases.

Notably, Odisha has been reporting less than 50 cases for the last 3 days. It had seen 40 and 45 new infections on Monday and Sunday respectively.

According to the I & PR department, 19 of the new cases are from quarantine and 13 local contacts.

Here are the district-wise figures of the new cases:

1. Balasore: 3
2. Cuttack: 1
3. Dhenkanal: 1
4. Gajapati: 7
5. Jajpur: 6
6. Kendrapada: 1
7. Khurda: 2
8. Mayurbhanj: 2
9. Nayagarh: 1
10. Sambalpur: 2
11. Sundargarh: 5
Besides, 1 from the state pool.

With these cases being detected from 43,419 samples, the test positivity rate (TPR) stood at 0.07 per cent.

Odisha now has 559 active cases. While Puri is free from COVID with nil active cases, a few more districts – Keonjhar, Rayagada, Nuapada, Bhadrak, Malkangiri, Kalahandi and Jharsuguda – are striding towards this status. Ganjam has the highest 79 active cases.
