Cuttack: Eminent writer of children’s literature, Nadiya Bihari Mohanty (90) succumbed to coronavirus at a private hospital in Cuttack on Monday, his family said.
Mohanty was born at Kaupada village in Kendrapada district. He did his graduation from Ravenshaw College and later completed another course in Law. In 1958, he got the job of a programme presenter at All India Radio (AIR), Cuttack.
Mohanty gained prominence for presenting the children’s show “Sishu Sansar’ on AIR. The show became so popular among children that he was later addressed as ‘Bada Bhai’ (elder brother).
Apart from this, Mohanty has also written over 30 books for children.
In recognition of his immense contribution to children’s literature, Mohanty was conferred with the Kendra Sahitya Akademi award in 2013.
