Bhubaneswar: “The success of every woman should be an inspiration to another. So, let’s join hands in lifting each other up…”
Women should be celebrated and honoured everyday for the selfless service, which they render to their family and society each day. This year, to celebrate women across the world, numerous events including global gatherings, informative conferences, art exhibitions and festivals with a special theme ‘#EachforEqual’ will be held across the globe on Sunday.
If you cannot attend any of these events, then you can still be a part of the celebration by draping yourself in purple on March 8. The colour purple is an international symbol for a woman. It signifies justice and dignity. You can also share your inspirational messages on social media platforms using the hashtag #IWD 2020.
On International Women’s Day, we celebrate the achievements of the women in the social, economic, cultural and political spheres. This day was founded by women to draw everyone’s attention towards the rights of women with respect to income, education and work hours etc.
“We can actively choose to challenge stereotypes, fight bias, broaden perceptions, improve situations and celebrate women’s achievements,” stated the IWD site.
Last year, the theme for IWD was #BalanceforBetter, which was meant to promote a future in which both men and women are equal in professional status, media perception, the positions they hold in government etc.
