New Delhi: Droupadi Murmu, former Jharkhand Governor, is BJP’s choice for President.
The decision was taken at the BJP’s parliamentary board meeting chaired by PM Narendra Modi.
Addressing the press conference, BJP president JP Nadda said that after extensive discussions with NDA allies, it was felt that the Presidential candidate should come from the Northeast and should be a woman tribal candidate.
Murmu, a tribal from Odisha, will be pitted against former Union minister Yashwant Sinha, who has been named as the opposition candidate for the post.
