Puri: Dreaded criminal Ananta Behera was critically injured in an encounter with police at Chari Chhak in Gopa of Puri district late on Tuesday. He sustained bullet injuries in his left leg and was admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
A special squad of Puri police conducted a raid at Gopa, where the criminal was plotting a crime. Behera tried to flee the spot by firing on police personnel, who retaliated hitting him in his leg.

More than 10 criminal cases of dacoity and extortion are pending against him at several police stations, police sources said.
