Bhubaneswar: The drinking water supply to several areas of Bhubaneswar will be disrupted for 24 hours from Friday afternoon due to essential pipeline repairs.
The Water Corporation of Odisha (WATCO), in a notification on Thursday, said the water supply from the pump house at Mundali to the city would be stopped due to repair of main supply pipe. The supply would be discontinued from 2 pm on Friday and resumed from 2 pm on Saturday.
In a post on X, Watco said: “Due to essential pipeline repairs at Mundali, there will be a water supply interruption in Bhubaneswar from 2 pm on the 18th to 2 pm on the 19th.”
The areas, which will be affected by the repair work, include various regions under its divisions in Ghatikia, Pokhariput, High-Level Tank, Nayapalli, and Chandrasekharpur.
The supply will be discontinued to Kalinga Nagar, Patrapada, Bharatpur, Ghatikia, Khandagiri, Kolathia, Aiginia, Baramunda, Jagannath Vihar, Rental Colony, CRPF Area, Ekamra Villa, Baramunda Bus Stand area, Tapoban, AIIMS Nagar, and AIIMS Hospital and other areas of Ghatikia region and Jadupur, Dumduma Housing Board Colony, Jagamara, Sundarpada, Anant Vihar, Soubhagya Nagar and a few other places in Pokhairput. Other areas to be affected are Aerodrome, Bhimpur, Palaspalli, Forest Park, Siripur, Ganga Nagar and parts of Unit I to VIII in Watco high-level tank region; IRC village and some other parts in Nayapalli and Niladri Vihar, Salia Sahi and Maitri Vihar in Chandrasekharpur.
The WATCO has appealed to the people of these areas to store the water sufficiently in advance to prevent inconvenience for disruption in supply. It has also issued helpline numbers for the five regions.
