Dhenkanal: Iron-laden vehicle plunged into the Brahmani River from a bridge in Kamakhyanagar in which the driver died here in the wee hours on Saturday. The helper of the truck suffered critical injuries.
Reports said the incident happened at around 5 am when the driver lost control over the vehicle and the truck fell off the bridge into the river killing him on the spot.
Soon after receiving the information, the Sadar Police accompanied by fire services personnel rushed to the spot and rescued the helper.
The cops admitted the injured helper to the Dhenkanal District Headquarters Hospital. Later he was referred to the SCB Medical College & Hospital in Cuttack for treatment after his condition worsened.
The deceased and injured persons’ identities are yet to be ascertained.
