‘Drunk’, Asleep On Classroom Floor In Odisha’s Sundargarh: Teacher Cuts Sorry Picture
Sundargarh: A teacher at a primary school in Lephripara in Odisha’s Sundargarh district regularly comes to school drunk, even falling asleep on classroom floors in an inebriated state, students and parents have alleged.
The headmistress and students of the primary school in Kisanpara also alleged that the teacher, Pradeep Patel, misbehaves with them. School authorities said higher authorities have been apprised of it for necessary action.
“After I stopped him in a drunken state outside the school gate as a training programme for teachers was about to commence, he abused me and forcibly entered the campus,” headmistress Sunita Pandey told a news channel.
Salil Kumar Patel, Cluster Resource Co-coordinator (CRCC), said higher authorities and the Block Education Officer (BEO) had been apprised of the matter for necessary action.
On Thursday, Patel, allegedly drunk, started scolding students. Angry villagers locked the school and left with their children.
Police had to rescued the headmistress and teacher after villagers refused to unlock the gates.
