DU Top Prof Ved Kumari Appointed VC Of NLU Odisha

Cuttack: Prof Ved Kumari is the new Vice-Chancellor (VC) of National Law University (NLU), Odisha.

According to Live Law, the search committee, comprising Prof SK Bhatnagar, Dr Faizan Mustafa and Justice AK Patnaik, had recommended three names, including her’s, from the shortlisted list of eight to Chief Justice.

Ved Kumari was the Dean of Faculty of Law, Delhi, till 2016 and worked as the Faculty of Law in the University of Jammu from 1983-1985. She also served as the chairperson of the Delhi Judicial Academy from 2009-2011.

She has written three books on juvenile justice in India.

Ved Kumari has continued teaching at DU and was due to retire in August of this year.

On her plans for NLU Odisha, she said it was still too early. “Plans will be made after I get to know about the university. I believe in the continuous process of learning and unlearning,” she was quoted as saying by Legally India.
