Bhubaneswar: Padmaraju Ravi Kumar, a native of Visakhapatnam working in Mumbai who had accused Ollywood actress Chinmayee Priyadasrshini Nayak of duping him of cash, gold jewellery and a laptop on the pretext of marriage, on Wednesday claimed that she has offered him a compromise
Padmaraju told the media that he had got a call from friend of the actress, who identified himself as Debaraj Sahoo, and he asked him to visit Bhubaneswar and take back the items. “A few hours later, a woman also telephoned and after a brief argument, she too asked me take back the items,” he said. The youth also refuted the actress’s claim that he had taken a hand loan of 1.5 lakh from her and had transferred Rs 50,000 online to her account for that reason.
The actress had earlier rubbished the defrauding allegations while speaking to a local channel on Tuesday and instead alleged that the youth had threatened to tarnish her image after she declined his marriage proposal. “He never gifted a gold chain on my birthday,” she had added.
Padmaraju claimed that he had met the actress on a matrimonial website, where he had opened an account in August 2018, and they had exchanged phone numbers. Later, he came to Bhubaneswar to meet her and she had then expressed her desire to marry him. “She asked me for Rs 2 lakh prior to the launch of her movie several times. I obliged her and transferred the amount online,” said Padmaraju. She then demanded gold chain and earrings as birthday gifts and a laptop for her personal work. He fulfilled all these demands.
When Padmaraju asked the actress to marry him in August 2019, she refused. Shocked and heartbroken, Padmaraju demanded that she return the laptop, cash and gold jewellery. On this, the actress allegedly threatened to file a sexual harassment complaint against him, he alleged.
He then approached Mumbai Police, who asked him to file a complaint with Odisha Police. Accordingly, he mailed his complaint to the Twin City Police Commissioner and Bhubaneswar DCP, who have assured him of action in this regard.
Chinmayee, however, said that she got to know Padmaraju only four months back and had never made any commitment to marry him. “He has duped me and filed a false complaint. I will soon file a defamation case against him.,” she had told the media.
