Bhubaneswar: The Election Commission on Monday postponed elections to Patkura Assembly constituency by 60 days in view of the devastation caused by Cyclone Fani. Polls were countermanded in Patkura during the four-phase simultaneous elections following the death of BJD candidate Bed Prakash Agarwal.
The poll monitor had subsequently scheduled the elections on May 19 and the BJD nominated Agarwal’s widow. However, in view of Fani, Chief Minister and BJD president Naveen Patnaik had requested the Election Commission to shift the election.
