ECMO Machines To Reach Odisha by Month-End: DMET
Bhubaneswar: The nine Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) machines are likely to to reach Odisha by this month end.
Informing this on Friday, Director, Directorate of Medical Education and Training (DMET), CBK Mohanty said “Two machines have reached the state a and the rest are scheduled to arrive by this month-end.”
Assuring that the state has adequate manpower to operate these machines, Mohanty said those appointed to extend the expensive treatment have around three years of experience and are skilled in operating the machines. However, they will be sent to Kolkata for special training, he added.
The machines will be installed at the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, he said.
About COVID situation in the twin city, Mohanty said infections in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar are yet to decline. This is because of flow of outsiders to the two cities, said the DMET and added the government is making all out efforts to inoculate more and more people in the state, especially the Twin city.
