Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday virtually launched the 5th edition of Eco-Retreat Odisha 2023-24, the much-awaiting glamping event in Odisha, at Konark, Sonapur and Bhitarkanika.
While Eco Retreat Konark has 70 cottages, Bhitarkanika (Pentha) and Sonapur have 25 each. The event, which promises exotic holidaying experiences with exciting water sports, and other recreational activities like rifle shooting, archery, ATVs, bicycles and beach volleyball, was inaugurated at Putsil, Daringbadi, Hirakud and Satkosia last month.
Inaugurating the event, Naveen said that the event provides best of glamping experience at seven exotic locations such as beaches, hill stations, gorges, river banks and wildlife sanctuary. “Blessed with treasure trove of picturesque natural destinations, Odisha is now on the spotlight for its responsible tourism. The Odisha government’s flagship product Eco Retreat has been highly appreciated by the travel and tourism fraternity for its sustainable model, incorporating best practices in waste management and holistic resource utilisation while offering tourists a more refined leisure hospitality akin to star category resorts,” he added.
Minister of Tourism Aswini Patra, Minister of State, E & IT, Sports & Youth Services and Home Tusharkanti Behera, Chairperson Konark NAC Sanjukta Tripathy & Director Tourism Sachin Jadhav were present during opening of the facility at Konark.
