Bhubaneswar: The State Economic Survey has pegged Odisha’s economic growth at -4.92% in 2020-21 financial year.
Presenting the State Economic Survey Report 2020-21 in the Assembly on Saturday, Finance Minister Niranjan Pujari said the economic growth slowed down in 2020-21 compared to 11,92% of the last fiscal, mostly due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Similarly, the Survey has estimated the per capita income at Rs 24,812 less than national per capita of Rs 1,26,968. Besides, it is 2.3% less than the state’s per capita income of Rs 1,04,566 in 2019-20.
However, the minister said the per capita income of Odisha has grown faster than the national average over a decade. The state’s per capita, which was about 76.42% of the national figure in 2011-12, increased to 80.46% in 2020-21.
On the sector-wise contribution to the state economy in 2020-21, the Survey estimated it to be 21.27% from agriculture and allied sectors, 36.26% from industry and 42.47% from services sector.
