ECoR Takes Precautionary Measures To Contain Coronavirus Outbreak
Bhubaneswar: In an attempt to contain COVID-19 outbreak, the East Coast Railway (ECoR) has directed the Railway Medical Wing and Divisional Railway Managers to make sure that appropriate precautionary measures are in place across the zone.
The department has educated its staff regarding the novel coronavirus and has also set up control rooms at important places across ECoR.
Central Hospital at Bhubaneswar, divisional hospitals at Khurda Road, Sambalpur and Visakhapatnam have been upgraded with ten-bedded isolation wards, equipped with life saving equipment and drugs.
Here’s a list of measures taken by the ECoR to check COVID-19:
- To spread awareness on COVID-19 infection, several prominent posters, banners and pamphlets in local language are being displayed at railway stations and in trains. IEC material is also being distributed among patients visiting hospitals, railway colonies, and work places.
- Audio and video clips related to the disease are being played, and public announcements are being made at railway stations.
- In Railway hospitals, people with coronavirus symptoms are being kept in isolation wards and special medical staff with protective gears has been provided for them.
- Medical staff at Railway Hospitals has been directed to inform local health authorities about COVID-19 cases, if any. Healthcare workers have been well-trained regarding preventive strategies.
- All medical in-charges have been advised to be in constant touch with the respective state authorities to get the latest updates on the necessary detection, prevention and curative measures regarding the infection.
- To create awareness among railway beneficiaries, health education camps have been organised in railway settlements.
- As an additional preventive measure, the department is removing blankets and curtains from AC coaches. If required, extra bedsheets will be provided to the passengers.
- Measures are being taken to ensure cleanliness and sanitation in station areas, train coaches, toilets and railway colonies.
