Mumbai: Singer Ed Sheeran has shared a behind-the-scenes video of himself singing in Hindi for Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming film ‘King’.
The clip caught the actor’s attention, with Shah Rukh thanking the singer for being part of the project and saying he “can’t thank you enough” for the gesture.
Ed also opened up about how the collaboration came about, revealing that he recorded his portion of the track during his previous visit to India.
Sharing the video on Instagram, the singer penned a lengthy note about his friendship with Shah Rukh and the story behind the collaboration.
“When i first met Shah Rukh, he said i must make a song to be in his next movie and also be my first Bollywood song. We’ve got to know each other over the years and i love him,” he wrote.
Recalling his last trip to India, Ed said he had visited Shah Rukh’s residence to shoot the actor’s cameo for Sapphire, his track featuring Arijit Singh.
It was during this visit that SRK introduced him to composers Sachin-Jigar, paving the way for their collaboration.
“He introduced me to @sachinjigar that day and i wrote and recorded my verse for Tu Mil Jaaye for his movie King that night,” Ed shared.
He also expressed delight at getting the opportunity to collaborate with Arijit once again.
“I love that Arijit is singing on it with me too, all my favourite people on one project,” he wrote.
Reacting to Ed’s video, Shah Rukh thanked the singer for contributing to King and expressed his appreciation for his Hindi rendition.
“Can’t thank u enough my friend for doing the song…especially the Hindi bits. Love u @teddysphotos,” SRK wrote.
