New Delhi: Is the noose tightening around Arvind Kejriwal?
The Delhi chief minister was quizzed for about nine hours by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) sleuths six months ago in the Delhi liquor policy case.
Now, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned Kejriwal for questioning on November 2.
The central agencies claim to have evidence against Kejriwal based on which they are questioning him. According to a chargesheet filed by ED earlier, Kejriwal spoke with liquor baron Sameer Mahendru, a prime accused in the excise policy scam, over FaceTime and asked him to trust the party’s communication in-charge Vijay Nair.
Two Delhi ministers — Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain – have already been arrested in the liquor scam. Senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh joined them in custody earlier this month.
Political circles are abuzz with speculation that it could be Kejriwal’s turn next. The only sitting chief minister to have been arrested in India was Tamil Nadu’s J Jayalalitha in 1996.
