Education Ministry Asks JNU V-C Jagadesh Kumar To Continue In Office

New Delhi: Education Ministry on Friday asked Vice-Chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru University, M Jagadesh Kumar, who was to retire on January 26, to continue in office till a successor is appointed.

An advertisement was published in October for the same saying the Vice-Chancellor must possess “the highest level of competence, integrity, morals and institutional commitment”.

“The incumbent Vice-Chancellor M Jagadesh Kumar, whose five-year term is to complete on January 26, is allowed to continue in the office, notwithstanding the expiry of the tenure till his successor is appointed,” Under Secretary, Ministry of Education, PK Singh was quoted as saying by The Indian Express on Friday.
