African Lion Dies In Nandankanan

Bhubaneswar: An eight-year-old African male lion, procured from Israel, died at Nandankanan Zoological Park here on Friday.
The lion was undergoing treatment at the zoo after it fell ill this morning. It was then carried to the zoo hospital for administering of saline. But, it suddenly died, the zoo authorities informed.
The authorities concerned have contacted the Centre for Wildlife Health, OUAT, to conduct the postmortem. The cause of death shall be ascertained this evening, they added.
At present, there are six male and seven female lions in the zoo.
