Nayagarh: A man was killed and at least ten others sustained grievous injuries in a violence clash during Ganesh idol immersion in Fatehgarh area of Odisha’s Nayagarh district.
As per information, the violent incident took place following a dispute over DJ music during Ganesh idol immersion procession on Sunday night. Verbal altercation escalated into a clash between the residents of two villages at Karadapalli under the jurisdiction of Fatehgarh police station.
One person, identified as Harihar Swain, an elderly man from Karadapalli village, was killed and ten others sustained critical injuries in the clash.
Locals said the clash took place after an argument between residents of Pathapur and Karadapalli during the immersion procession. Harihar Swain, who sustained critical injuries, was rushed to Bhapur Community Health Centre, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
While those who had taken him to the hospital reportedly fled the scene soon after, several people from Pathapur village allegedly involved in the violence, have also gone underground. The incident has sparked outrage among locals, who are demanding quick action.
A team from Fatehgarh police station visited the village and brought the situation under control. The police have initiated an investigation but no arrest has been made in connection with the incident so far.
