Bhubaneswar: A man was allegedly caught on camera assaulting an elderly woman in full public view over a trivial matter of plucking flowers near GGP Colony in Bhubaneswar.
The incident took place on Monday when 61-year-old Parbati Pradhan was collecting flowers in her neighbourhood. Amit Sahoo, a local flower vendor, allegedly confronted her, leading to a heated argument. Sahoo warned her against plucking flowers and allegedly pushed her down and kicked her repeatedly when she resisted.
Mancheswar police have filed a case and initiated an investigation into the matter based on the CCTV footage. The victim and her family members also met the DCP, seeking action against the accused.
“The matter is being treated seriously and raids are being conducted to apprehend the suspect,” a senior police officer said.
