Bhubaneswar: Odisha has more than 3,23,49,341 voters spread across 146 Assembly constituencies.
As per an official note published by the State Election Commission here on Thursday, 1,64,96,153 of the total voters are male, while 1,58,49,966 are female. Another 3,222 voters are members of the third gender, the note said.
A total of 5,94,613 voters have enrolled their names for the first time, while 3,20,506 names were approved for deletion. In addition, 2,14,000 names were approved for the correction of names and other details.
However, the electoral roll revision of the Padampur Assembly segment was not conducted due to the by-poll there, the note read said. The electoral roll in the Padamapur Assembly constituency will commence on January 6.
According to the note, the draft photo electoral rolls of 146 Assembly constituencies were published on November 9, 2022. Claims and objections for deletion, addition, correction in electoral rolls and transfer of names from one location to another were received from November 9 to December 8, 2022.
About 78,260 advance applications were received from the 17-plus age group during the revision programme. These applications will be disposed of in subsequent phases and they will be enrolled later. EPIC cards will be delivered through speed-post to the voters free of cost after enrolment, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) SK Lohani said. According to him, special focus on enrolling more and more electors from the marginalised sections of society such as PVTGs (particularly vulnerable tribal groups), third gender, sex workers and persons with disabilities, the statement said.
In the draft electoral roll, the number of electorates in the age group of 18-19 years was 2,10,268 and it increased to 4,46,779 in the final roll.
