Dhenkanal: A wild elephant trampled a man to death at Kaunriapala under Odapada block in Dhenkanal district on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Akshaya Mohanty.
The incident took place when the victim was working in an agricultural field near his house.
In a separate incident, a elephant calf was rescued from a well by forest officials at Nirakarpur in Khurda this morning.
The animal will soon be shifted to Nandankanan Zoological Park, forest personnel said.
