Jatni: Eminent Odia film director, cinematographer, and writer Raju Mishra passed away at his residence in Jatni in Khurda district on Monday. He was 72.
Mishra’s wife Pratima Manjari informed the media that her husband suffered a massive heart attack while he was sitting on a chair.
She said that Mishra had recently undergone heart surgery. Besides, he had suffered a mild brain stroke recently.
A FTII alumunus, he had directed several hit Odia films notably Ulka, Chaka Akhi Sabu Dekhuchi, Pua Mora Kala Thakura, Sagara Ganga, Rupa Ganra Suna Kania, Sata Michha, Asuchhi Mo Kalia Suna, Jor Jar Mulaka Tara, Jibana Mrutyu, Hari Bhai Harena, Mamata Mage Mula, Singha Bahini and Pathara Khasuchhi Bada Deulu.
Mishra received several awards including the Jayadev Samman in recognition of his profound contribution to Odia films.
