Berhampur: An employee of Fire Services department allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree in a forest of Ganjam district on Tuesday.
According to reports, the man, identified as Dayanidhi Mahanta of Keonjhar, was working in Aska fire station. Some villagers of Budhakendu in Bhanjanagar block found him hanging in the forest near the village. A Fire Brigade vehicles was also standing on the road nearby.
On being informed a team from Gangapur police station and personnel from Bhanjanagr fire station went to the spot and started investigation. The police have sent the body for post-mortem.
A note was reportedly found from the pocket of Dayanidhi mentioning that he was under stress for being denied leave by higher officials of the department.
