Cuttack: Vigilance officials on Tuesday arrested K Srinivas Patra, an assistant engineer working with TATA Power Southern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPSODL), Jeypore (Koraput), while accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a worker to provide an employment in his office.
Patra was arrested on the basis of a complaint filed by the worker after which the Vigilance sleuths laid a trap and apprehended him from his office at Jeypore Power House while he was accepting the bribe money. The money was recovered from Patra’s possession and seized in the presence of witnesses. His hands were washed which showed positive chemical reaction, confirming the bribery.
Simultaneous raids were conducted on his rented house and office chamber of the accused at Jeypore and his house at Chhatrapur in Ganjam district. He would be forwarded to the court and chargesheeted under Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.
The case is under investigation.
