Berhampur: Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) is giving a facelift to the 150-year-old Ramlingam Tank and turning it into an entertainment park.
Ganjam collector Vijay Amrit Kulange along with BeMC commissioner Siddheswar Baliram Bundar, sub-collector Berhampur V Kirtivasan and others visited the project site of which about 90% work has been completed. Finishing touches are being carried out, said the collector.
The park, which is coming up on 8.8-acre of the tank, is expected to be ready by December. The project is implemented with a cost of Rs 12 crore. It include 10-ft wide and 690-meter long walkway around the tank, children’s park, garden, boating facilities, fountain and attractive lighting, sources said.
As per the record, Ramlingam Tank was built in 1870 and has been entangled in a legal battle for many years.
