Bhubaneswar: An online painting competition to cheer up the young artists during the lockdown period was organised by Odisha branch of Artdom.
Themed “Kuni Kalakar”, the competition was organised from July 1 to July 30 on the occasion of Rath Yatra.
A total of 1,101 child artists in three categories took part. In category ‘A’, for children between 5 and 10 years, 563 participated while 457 children from 11 to 14 years sent their entries in Category B and 81 children aged 15 to 18 participated.
Of the 10 paintings selected as the best works of the competitio, top three from each category will be awarded trophies and the other four will be awarded medals, said Josnarani Nand, coordinator, Artdam Odisha Branch.
The online event will be attended by international artists Rabindra Kumar Maharana, Ashok Kumar Patnaik, Jagannath Mohapatra, Durgamadhav Kar, Manoj Bhattacharya, Nivedita Mahant, Sima Mahant, Soumya Ranjan Patnaik, Hemant Bishi and Radheshyam. The chief of Artdom based in Gujarat has lauded the work of Odisha’s artists.
