Bhubaneswar: Ten-year-old Ayush Kumar Khuntia couldn’t have utilized the spare time he got during the coronavirus-induced lockdown better.
The Bhubaneswar boy wrote the Ramayana in mother tongue Odia after watching the epic in a TV series during the months of lockdown.
Named ‘Pilanka Ramayana’ (Ramayana for children), Ayush has written the story in a 104-page compilation.
“During the lockdown, I was asked to watch Ramayana episodes on television by my uncle, and later to write something on it,” Ayush told ANI.
“I watched Ramayana which was telecast on Doordarshan channel, and wrote each episode in Odia in my notebook. It took me two months to complete the book,” Ayush informed.
“I have written several golden moments in Ramayana like Lord Ram leaving his home for 14 years in exile, and Devi Sita’s abduction by Ravana from Panchavati forest. I also explained how people of Ayodhya welcomed Lord Ram after 14 years of exile,” he elaborated.
He encouraged all youngsters to develop a habit of reading and writing, which helps one attain new heights in life.
