Berhampur: Former block chairman of Beguniapada under Kodala police station limits in Ganjam district Debaraj Sahu (50) was shot dead by unidentified miscreants on Wednesday morning.
According to reports, Sahu was having his morning tea at a tea stall near the bus stand at the Sumandal Chhak at about 8.45 am when three men came on a bike and opened fire at him killing him on the spot.
The assailants later fled the area.
Ganjam SP Brijesh Kumar Rai said that the local police and the Chhatrapur SDPO rushed to the spot for an on-the-spot investigation.
While the body has been sent for post-mortem, police have begun a manhunt to nab the assailants.
