Vigilance Convicts Retired Odisha Headmaster In Disproportionate Assets Case  

Bhawanipatna: A Vigilance court on Saturday convicted a retired headmaster of Odisha’s Kalahandi district in a disproportionate assets (DA) case.

The Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhawanipatna convicted Prakash Chandra Pattnaik, the ex-headmaster of Malagaon UP School in Bhawanipatna Sadar of Kalahandi district, under Section 13(2) r/w 13(1)(e) of Prevention of Corruption (PC) Act, 1988.

He was sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for two years and directed to pay a fine of Rs 50,000. In default of payment of the fine, he would have to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for another three months for the offence.

The judgement came on the chargesheet filed in Koraput Vigilance police station against Pattnaik for possession of assets disproportionate to his known source of income.

Following his conviction, Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority to stop his pension, sources said.
