Bhubaneswar: Former Bari MLA Debasish Nayak has said the breaches in embankments of rivers in Jajpur district are man-made and assured of all possible help to the flood-affected people.
Nayak visited the flood-affected areas in Ayangarabada, Anyasapur and Talakaipada to take stock of the situation and interacted with people taking shelter in tents.
After visiting the breaches in Kharasrota and Brahmani rivers, Nayak told the mediapersons that those are man-made.
“I am shocked that some people resorted to destroying public property, putting human lives at stake, due to vested interests. While 6-7 embankments have been blown up in Bari, similar breaches were also created in Dharmasala and Narsinghpur,” Nayak said.
Blaming the contractors for resorting to man-made flood in his constituency, the former MLA said he had discussed the situation with district collector and higher officials.
Claiming that there will be no paucity of funds to take relief measures for the affected people, Nayak said the package announced by chief minister Naveen Patnaik will reach them soon.
