Deputy Commissioner of Excise Department Sitakant Muduli said, “It was found during the raid that hotel was storing liquor 30 cartons of beer which had expired in December 2025. They should have informed us since they purchase it from government warehouse. Excise officials seized the expired liquor, served a SIR notice and a fine will be imposed.”
Officials stated that during the raid, bottles suspected to be past their expiry date were seized for verification.
The department is now examining records of procurement and sales to determine whether expired liquor was knowingly circulated. Authorities have also questioned bar staff and management to establish accountability.
