Bengaluru: Chandrashekhar Guruji of ‘Saral Vastu’ fame was stabbed to death in a famous hotel in Karnataka’s Hubballi district on Tuesday morning. Police have arrested two accused identified as Maltesh and Manjunath.
CCTV footage showed two people stabbing him at the reception of the hotel. Scared by the violent incident, the people present nearby ran away. On learning about the incident, the Hubballi police commissioner Labhu Ram rushed to the spot.
“Chandrashekhar Guru came to the President Hotel in the afternoon. Someone had asked him to come to the lobby. When he came there, two people were sitting. While one went him to namaskar, the other one started stabbing him. Then both these people assaulted the guru together,” the police commissioner was quoted as saying.
The victim was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. “A case was filed in Vijay Nagar police station and the investigation was taken up by the ACP level officer. ACP North is investigating this case,” the police officer added, saying, “We have got some information based on mobile tower. We will know the motive after the investigation. We are recording statement of family members too.”
Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai condemned the murder and said that he has spoken to the Hubballi police commissioner regarding the incident.
“It’s a heinous murder. Video is there too. I’ve spoken to Hubli police commissioner. An investigation is on now and the motive will be found. I condemn such acts. Govt will act strictly to nab accused.”
