Bhubaneswar: Odisha may experience an intense spell of rains due to an active low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal, which is expected to become more marked during the next 2 days.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy to extremely heavy downpours accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds across multiple districts until July 7. Red warning has been issued for Kalahandi, Rayagada, Koraput, Sambalpur, Sonpur, Anugola, Boudh, Kandhamala and Malkangiri districts on June 3-4, and orange warning for Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Balangir, Baragada, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kendujhar, Kataka, Dhenkanal, Nayagada, Sundargada, Mayurbhanj, and Kendujhar from June 3-7.
The weather agency has warned of traffic disruption due to flooding of roads, waterlogging in low-lying areas and underpasses, mostly in urban areas, occasional reduction in visibility due to heavy rainfall, minor damage to kutcha roads and vulnerable structure along with landslides/ mudslides. Damage to horticulture and standing crops is also likely in some areas due to inundation. The downpour may also lead to riverine flooding in some river catchments.
Sea conditions are also likely to be rough to very rough as squally weather with wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph may prevail along and off Odisha coast during this period. Local Cautionary Signal No-III (LC-3) had been hoisted at Paradip and Dhamra ports.

Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall with isolated extremely heavy showers may occur at one or two places in the districts of Kalahandi, Rayagada, Koraput and Malkangiri.
Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is also likely in Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Balangir, Bargada, Sonpur, Boudh, Kandhamala, Ganjam and Gajapati.
Isolated heavy rainfall may also occur in Mayurbhanj, Kendujhar, Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Nayagada, Khordha, Puri, Kataka, Anugola, Dhenkanal, Debagada, Sambalpur, Sundargada and Jharsuguda.

Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall with isolated extremely heavy showers may occur at one or two places in the districts of Sambalpur, Sonpur, Anugola, Boudh, and Kandhamala.
Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is also likely in Kendujhar, Kataka, Dhenkanal, Nayagada, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kalahandi, and Rayagada.
Isolated heavy rainfall may also occur in Mayurbhanj, Baleswar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Khordha, Puri, Debagada, Sundargada, Jharsuguda. Koraput, Malkangiri. Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Balangir and Baragada.
