Dubai: As the world focuses on dramatic events in Afghanistan, a screenshot of a CNN report supposedly praising militant group Taliban for wearing face masks has gone viral.
The screenshot shows the text “Taliban fighters responsibly wearing masks,” with a ‘Breaking News’ template by CNN.
However, the viral screenshot has actually been published by a satirical website called ‘The Babylon Bee’. The ‘About Us’ section of the site says clearly that it is a satirical website and its bio reads: ‘Fake news you can trust’.
Hence, the viral photo claiming CNN praising the Islamist terror group is not real.
The Taliban has swooped in over Kabul and taken over the Presidential Palace. After former Afghan President Ashraf Ghani fled Kabul on Sunday, thousands tried stormed the airport tarmac to try and get on to a plane.
