Fact Check: Did Ratan Tata’s Pet Dog ‘Goa’ Die After His Master Passed Away?
Mumbai: Days after acclaimed industrialist and philanthropist Ratan Tata breathed his last on October 9, a WhatsApp message saying that his pet dog Goa too passed away in grief, started doing the rounds.
Tata’s attachment with Goa was well documented, with images of the dog visiting Mumbai’s National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) to bid a final goodbye to his master catching everyone’s attention.
So has he actually joined Tata in heaven?
Senior Inspector Sudhir Kudalkar clarified the WhatsApp message is fake and stated that the dog is very much alive and doing fine.
The cop even shared an Instagram reel and wrote: “A WhatsApp message is circulating about Late Ratan Tata Ji’s pet dog, Goa, passed away. I verified this with Shantanu Naidu, who is also known as a close friend of Tata Ji and he confirmed that Goa is doing fine. Please make sure to verify facts before sharing posts.”

The fake message read, “Sad news… Tata’s pet dog GOA dies after 3 days of his death. That’s why they say that dogs are more faithful to their masters, than human beings!”
‘Goa’ was a stray dog who was brought from Goa and adopted by Tata. Along with other stray animals, Goa stayed at the Tata Group’s headquarters, the Bombay House.
