Kyiv: Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky had said he was Russia’s top target after Vladimir Putin ordered a operation in his neighbouring nation a week ago.
Ukraine’s capital Kyiv and other cities like Kharkiv and Kherson have been under continuous shelling for the past seven days as Zelensky leads the defence of his country by example.
Even as Russia presses forward and makes inroads into Kyiv, there are reports that Ukrainian security forces have eliminated a Chechen hit squad which had been assigned to assassinate Zelensky.
And, believe it or not, Ukraine apparently was tipped off about the murder plot by members of Russian agency.
Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council chief Oleksiy Danilo said members of Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) had alerted Ukraine officials that a unit of elite Chechen Special Forces called Kadyrovites was plotting to assassinate Zelensky.

According to Danilo, some Russian members of FSB don’t support Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.
Zelensky, in his latest video address, accused Russia of looking to erase Ukraine, its people and history.
“They know nothing about our capital. About our history. But they have an order to erase our history. Erase our country. Erase us all,” Zelensky said.
