London: An image of an tweet by British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, apologising for what Britain did to India 74 years ago, is doing the rounds on social media.
Careful examination of the tweet, however, revealed that it was not posted from the UK PM’s official Twitter account.
“I am sorry for what Britain did to India 74 years ago, so I want to apologize to Indians. Happy Independence Day to Incredible India”, the imposter tweet published on August 15 read.
Johnson’s official account is @BorisJohnson and not @BorisUKJohnson.
The tweet has been ‘liked’ over 36,000 times.
