Faculty Development Programme At Bhubaneswar’s IBCS: ‘Continuous Learning & Skilling The New Norm’

Bhubaneswar: To keep pace with rapid changes in every sphere all around the globe, continuous learning and skilling has to be the new norm, according to Skill Development Institute (SDI) CEO Ranjan Bhowmick.

“As per the need of the hour, formal education has to be integrated with skilling which has become imperative,” Bhowmick said at the valedictory function of the five-day ‘Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on Innovation and Entrepreneurship’, held at the Institute of Business and Computer Studies (IBCS), faculty of management sciences of SOA Deemed to be University.

Bhowmick, who was the chief guest, said the SDI, an outcome-oriented institute, was skilling the youth and enhancing livelihood. It was running multiple short-term courses and around 92 per cent of the SDI trainees were getting placement, he added.

Bhubaneswar City Knowledge Innovation Cluster (BCKIC) CEO Dr Namrata Mishra, who was the guest of honour, said the time was ripe for making students future ready.

Describing the faculty members as change makers, she said young researchers were accepting entrepreneurship in a big way. Odisha based startups were also doing well, she pointed out.

Among others who addressed the programme were Pro-Vice Chancellor and Registrar Prof. Bibhuti Bhushan Pradhan, Pro-Vice Chancellor of SOA Prof. Prasanta Kumar Patra, Dean of IBCS Prof. Ayasa Kanta Mohanty, Dean (Students’ Welfare) Prof. Jyoti Ranjan Das, Associate Dean IBCS Prof. Manoranjan Dash and Co-PI of the FDP Dr Neha Gupta.

Twenty-one experts from different domains addressed 50-plus participants from different educational institutions of Odisha.
