Balangir: The Crime Branch (CB) has taken four persons, including two prime accused, in fake certificate racket into remand in Odisha’s Balangir district.
In order to ascertain facts and elicit information regarding modus operandi of the accused, the Crime Branch decided to take remand of the prime accused, Manoj Mishra and his close associate Alok Ranjan Udgata. The investigating agency also decided to take on remand Tribihari Panda and Pares Budek, the two candidates who had applied for the government job by utilising the forged documents and were arrested.
The Crime Branch (CB) applied their remand for 5 days to SDJM court in Balangir. The court allowed 3 days’ police remand of all the four from April 5.
The CB officials carried out thorough search in residential houses of both Manoj and Alok for incriminating materials. During investigation, the role of the family members in assisting the accused persons in laundering the money earned through fraud has been examined. They have also been summoned for examination, said CB in a press release.
Notably, the CB on Monday started investigation into a complaint by Rajat Kumar Naik of Chandotara under Sindhekela police station in the district alleging that Manoj and Alok had duped him of more than Rs 5 lakh.
