Fake Cop With Two Wives Arrested For Re-Marrying, Duping Woman In Odisha
Bhubaneswar: Commissionerate Police have arrested one Subash Chandra Kanwar of Odisha’s Bhadrak for allegedly faking his identity to marry a woman and subsequently duping her.
The accused (55), according to police, had two wives before re-marrying the complainant in this case.
According to the complainant, a 52-year-old woman from Khurda, she came in contact with Subash through a social networking site in 2020.
The man identified himself as Manoj Mishra, a police inspector posted at Rourkela. As their relationship grew, the man lured her with a good life and proposed her for marriage.
Subsequently, the woman accepted the proposal and the duo got married in August 2023. However, after their wedding, Subash alias Manoj started avoiding her and also hesitated to meet her family.
The man was exposed when he finally landed at his in-law’s house. Suspicious about his activities from the beginning, the family realised that he was a fraud by tracking his car’s registration number, the police said.
“The man had forced her for a miscarriage and also extorted money from his wife,” a senior police official said.
On the basis of the woman’s complaint Khandagiri police arrested Subash and seized incriminating materials like fake Aadhar card, identity card, photographs in police uniform, and marriage photographs.
“The accused is a native of Tumbapadi under Bhadrak Rural police limits and presently resides at Sector 14 area of Rourkela. Further investigation revealed that the man was married thrice. He has been arrested and will be forwarded to the court,” the police official added.
