Cuttack: The Twin City Commissionerate Police on Wednesday arrested two more persons in connection with the sale of fake blood pressure (BP) medicines in Odisha’s Cuttack.
According to sources, the duo was buying fake medicines from the distributors and selling them to small traders in the city.
The cops had arrested Alok Kumar Mishra, Harish Kumar, Rahul Kyal, and Sanjay Jalan earlier in this connection.
It is pertinent to mention here that earlier Rahul Kyal of VR Drug Agency and Sanjay Jalan of M/S Puja Enterprisers were arrested by Purighat police for distributing spurious medicines. They were purchasing fake drugs from Sri Balaji Agencies in Patna and Balaji Drug Point in Gaya.

Based on the information, a special team of police along with Assistant Drug Controller Dharmadev Puhan and Drug Inspector Tushar Ranjan Panigrahi left for Gaya and Patna to carry out an investigation. During verification, it was ascertained that no such farm exists either in Gaya or Patna. However, it was found that Mishra and Kumar along with another person were operating a fake and spurious medicine business by preparing forged documents.
The cops arrested Alok Kumar Mishra and Harish Kumar from Bihar’s Gaya district for allegedly supplying spurious blood pressure medicines and brought them to Cuttack on transit remand.
“Rahul Kyal and Sanjay Jalan had been supplying the fake blood medicines to VR Drug Agency and M/S Puja Enterprisers at a huge discount as they knew that the fake and spurious medicines were not manufactured by M/S Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd,” DCP Pinak Mishra had said.
