Bhubaneswar: A woman was detailed by Mahila Police in Bhubaneswar on Thursday for allegedly impersonating as an IPS officer.
She has been identified as Sarmistha Behera, a resident of Forest Park here.
According to police sources, she came in contact with some lower-rung staff of different police stations and ordered them to supply essential commodities at her doorstep by identifying herself as a 2018-batch IPS officer posted at the Biju Patnaik State Police Academy (BPSPA) here.
She also asked the cops to arrange some cash and lockdown vehicle passes for her.
Sarmistha had also been calling a reserve inspector for shifting the duty of some constables deployed in Forest Park area to check the lockdown guidelines.
Suspecting foul play, one of the police personnel informed a senior officer about the woman. An inquiry revealed that she was a imposter.
Police later conducted a search at her house and seized a khaki uniform, fake identity card and a toy gun, besides several photographs of her in fake policing activities and raids, the sources added.
