Baripada: A prominent businessman was brutally stabbed to death at his house located in Forest Colony of Baripada town in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on Friday.
The deceased, identified as Snehasis Panda, was a famous businessman and contractor in the district. The murder has sent shockwaves across the district.
As per preliminary information, an unidentified assailant forcefully stormed into Panda’s house and mounted a fatal attack. The attacker fled the scene after slitting the throat of the businessman.
Hearing unusual noises from the house, neighbours rushed to the site and found Panda lying in a pool of blood. The locals raised an alarm and informed senior police officials regarding the incident.
The victim was rushed to Pandit Raghunath Murmu (PRM) Medical College and Hospital in Baripada where doctors declared him dead.
After getting information, police personnel immediately reached the spot and launched an investigation. A forensic team also visited the site to collect evidence from the crime scene, and police officials are reviewing CCTV footage from nearby areas to trace the suspect’s movements. Investigators are exploring all possible motives behind the murder, including personal enmity and business-related disputes.
